Latin night overview

This is not a place specifically for salsa dancing. Instead, it is a nightclub that had Latin music on Saturdays in one of its rooms.

Club Downtown has a few rooms inside with different types of music. The room where they played Latin music was fairly large. The dance floor was about five times the size of the floor at Pepin. It was also about half the size of the dance floor at Dave and Busters.

Around the dance floor, there were couches and chairs. More experienced dancers occupied the dance floor. Meanwhile, some people sat around the perimeter and watched the crowd.

Most people at this place seemed to know how to dance. I would estimate the crowd at about 90% dancers and 10% people who came to drink or hang out.

Dance floor and dress code

The dance floor was big enough to fit the people who wanted to dance. Before midnight, there was usually space to dance without bumping into other people. After 12 am, it did get crowded.

This was not a dress-to-impress type of place. However, the club did have a strict dress code. It was posted at the entrance.

Music, parking, and cover

The music in this room was bachata, merengue, salsa, and a little cumbia. They played the music in blocks of about 30 minutes each. For example, they might play 30 minutes of merengue, then 30 minutes of bachata.

There did not seem to be a free parking lot next to the club. On the side streets, the free spaces were usually taken. As a result, you might need to park a block away.

As with any nightclub, you had to be at least 21 to get in. The cover charge was $10.
