Fat Cat is located at 3131 E Thunderbird Rd #33, Phoenix, AZ 85032.

There is a beginner/intermediate group salsa lesson at Fat Cat Ballroom and Dance Company every Sunday. The beginner class starts at 7pm and slowly transition into intermediate lesson that ends at 8pm.

The intermediate part usually has patterns that are fairly simple. This is the night that has a lot of people just starting to learn salsa and the lessons are oriented on the salsa dancers that are a little more on the beginner side than intermediate. The crowed is older, there are a lot of regulars, and everyone is super nice.

After the intermediate salsa lesson there is a social dance where you have a chance to practice what you have learned during the class. Usually the people who took the class stay for the social. There are not a lot of people that come in just for the social part.

Experienced instructor (Miguel – a very nice guy, originally from Mexico), simple patterns, friendly crowd (everyone knows each other by name) makes this place perfect for someone just starting to learn salsa. I have been a regular at Fat Cat for about first 4 months, when I just started dancing, and have always enjoyed going there every Sunday.

The cost for just the social is $5. Cost for lesson and social $10. and there is no minimum age to get in.
