So you are thinking of taking a groups salsa class? Some of the questions that I hear a lot:

I don’t have a dance partner. Can I still take the class?
You do not need a dance partner for any of the group classes. Everyone rotates during the class every few minutes and you will dance with a lot of different people. If you came with a date you are not obligated to rotate. If you came by yourself a group salsa class is a good opportunity to make some new friends, or may be even meet a love of your life, although I can not guarantee you that.

I am terrible dancer, will I fit in?
People with great dancing skills do not take group classes. They either take private lessons or learn on their own. If someone is taking a group class, that is usually because they need one.

I feel uncomfortable on the dance floor. May be I was not meant to be a dancer?
If you are just starting to learn salsa or any other dance you may be bad at it for some time, and will feel like you do not belong on the dance floor. However, if you consistently take enough classes you will improve.

I have taken many classes already and I see no progress, am I hopeless?
Take some more classes. Dancers who make it look easy on the dance floor, polished their moves for many years. There are some people that never had a difficulty learning to dance, most of the good dancers I know struggled at the beginning.

I am not a good dancer and I have a hard time finding someone to practice new moves with?
Become a regular at one of the salsa venues, let people get to know you and they will dance with you, not based on your skills as a dancer, but because they like you as a human being. Taking salsa classes is a good way to let people get to know you.
