This page gives a brief summary of popular places to go salsa dancing during the week in the Phoenix metro. For more information about each night check out the home page and blog posts. Some places are listed more than once (such as Dave and Busters). It is not a typo, it is because they have a salsa night more than once a week. Some days of the week are listed more than once ( Sunday). It is because on some nights there is more than one salsa place to choose from.

For someone just starting to dance salsa and wondering what is the difference between salsa on 1 and salsa on 2, here is the answer. Salsa music has eight beats. If the dance is on the first beat of the music, it is called salsa on one or Los Angeles style. If the dance is on the second beat of the music, it is called salsa on two (mambo) or New York style. In Phoenix most classes and social dances are on one. It is easier to learn and to lead and, hence, more popular. Majority of beginner to intermediate salsa dances in Phoenix as a rule dance on one, while experienced dances usually know both styles.
